2015-5

Lt Christopher Sessions recently completed the Civil Air Patrol’s Unit Commander’s Course (UCC).

This course standardizes the training of squadron and group commanders throughout the organization. Commanders are the people responsible for administering programs and managing the volunteer members in the field.

UCC discusses the traits and skills new unit commanders will need to develop to effectively manage their units. Topics include recruiting and retention, command responsibility and accountability, safety, how to work with families, management, leadership, communication, and elements of successful units and leaders.

Three other current members of the squadron have previously completed this important professional development course.

2015 Calendar Considerations:

9-10 May – Quad Cities Air Show – Blue Angels to appear

13 Jun – Practice SAREX – Davenport

15-24 Jul – Iowa Wing Summer Encampment

15 Aug – Practice SAREX – Red Oak

20-21 Aug – Iowa Wing Conference

A MAJOR CHANGE OF MEETING CANCELLATION POLICY: If the squadron meeting is going to be canceled due to bad weather or other circumstance, you will be contacted either by phone or email. Please keep your contact information up to date so you don’t miss any cancellations.

Thought for the Month:

A dream doesn’t become reality through magic. It takes sweat, determination and hard work.
