Burlinton patchBURLINGTON COMPOSITE SQUADRON

NCR-IA-005 CIVIL AIR PATROL

2527 Summer Street

Burlington, IA 52601

“HIGH FIVE”

Congratulations to new senior member, Virginia Ekstrand, who completed all the activities and requirements for Level One Orientation of the Senior Member Professional Development Program. SM Ekstrand is the grandmother of Collin and Connor Wilson, who are new cadets in the squadron.

2015 Calendar Considerations:

15 Aug – Practice SAREX – Red Oak

20-21 Aug – Iowa Wing Conference – “Celebrate Our Successes” – Camp Dodge

30 Aug – Flight Line Exercise

Fire Safety:

Earlier this month, members of the squadron were instructed in fire safety by the Burlington Fire Department staff at the airport station. The instruction included fire extinguisher training as well as the opportunity to use a fire hose.

Aerospace Activities:

Cadets Karlee Sessions, Collin Wilson, and Connor Wilson passed the written section of the third Saturn Model Rocketry module. Hands-on activities continue this month with rocket building. The firing of the rockets is planned for September.

Compliance with Required Training:

One hundred percent of the active members of the squadron have completed the Basic Cadet Protection Course.   Efforts are being made to contact the inactive members who do not attend meetings on a regular basis to encourage them to also complete this required training. That way the squadron will truly be 100% compliant.

Cadet Jerry Bay earned his Cadet A/1C before he left for summer encampment at Camp Dodge in July. Capt. Paul Klees is pictured pinning the new grade insignia to Cadet Bay’s collar.

Thought for the Month:

To be persuasive, we must be believable. To be believable, we must be credible. To be credible, we must be truthful.
